What is the First Responder Wellness Program (FRWP)?

The Compass Center's First Responder Wellness Program (FRWP) was created by Dr. Blake Jones, founder of the Compass Center in Wilmore, Kentucky. With over 20 years of experience working with first responders in his clinical practice, Dr. Jones developed the FRWP to prioritize prevention, officer safety, and resilience.

What services does the FRWP provide?

The FRWP collaborates with first responder agencies to develop customized wellness programs tailored to their unique needs. Our services include:

• Annual Wellness Visits – One-hour sessions with a licensed therapist covering topics such as sleep health, financial management, relationships, mental health and substance use, stress management, and trauma.

• On-Call Support for Critical Incidents – Immediate access to debriefing services following high-stress events.

• Training & Workshops – Sessions on topics like "Preventing PTSD," "Maximizing Sleep," and "Healthy Relationships."

• Support for First Responder Spouses – Resources and guidance to help spouses navigate the challenges of first responder life.

By providing proactive mental health support and education, the FRWP helps first responders build resilience and maintain overall well-being.

Why is this important?

Every national first responder accrediting agency has established standards for wellness programs. More importantly, investing in wellness enhances officer morale, improves retention, and can ultimately save lives.

What is the cost?

The program costs approximately $200–$250 per officer per year.
